Text messages: texting from your own ClickSend
Send and read texts in Isletek through your own ClickSend account, which charges for each text as today. The shop admin sets it up.
Set it up
In the Marketplace, open Text messages and press Install.
In ClickSend, open Dashboard › API Credentials and copy your username and API key.
Save your ClickSend details, then choose who your texts come from: paste the username and API key and press Save. A key ClickSend refuses is not kept.
Choose the usual sender, one of the names or numbers ClickSend has approved, such as your shop's number or a name like CanvyKosher, and press Save again. No texts go until you do. A name ClickSend hasn't approved can't be chosen.
Press Send a test text and type your own mobile number.
The key is kept encrypted; only its last four characters show. If ClickSend later takes a name back, texts stop and the settings say so until you choose another. Customers can reply to texts from a number; nobody can reply to a name.
Who each text comes from
Choose who each text comes from: one of your approved names or numbers. The usual sender is picked for you. A reply in a conversation starts from the sender that conversation's last text used.
Replies
ClickSend sends replies straight in; if it can't be set up, the settings show an address to paste into ClickSend's inbound rules. Replies ClickSend emails to your mailbox are read too.
Each number is one conversation. A number the till knows shows the customer's name; an unknown one asks Who is this? so you can pick the customer.
STOP and offers
Offers go only to customers who said yes to texts. An offer sent from a number ends with "Reply STOP to stop"; one sent from a name doesn't. Order reminders and your own replies carry no such line. A customer who replies STOP gets no more texts of any kind until they reply START, and START never signs them up for offers again.
Nothing automatic goes out on Shabbat or Yom Tov: it waits until after havdalah.
