Texts: your customers' text messages in Chat

Chat › Texts keeps every text between the shop and its customers, one conversation per number, sent and received through your own ClickSend account (the shop admin sets it up in Marketplace › Text messages). The office and up read and reply.

The conversations

Press Texts at the top of Chat's sidebar. The chips All, Unread and Who is this? narrow the list. Each row shows the customer's name, or the number when the till doesn't know it, with the last words and when.

When a number is new, the conversation asks Who is this?: press it, search for the customer by name, account number or phone, and press them. The number then shows their name, and their texts appear on their Communication tab in Business › Customers.

Writing a text

Type under the conversation and press Send, or Ctrl+Enter. From chooses which of your approved names or numbers it comes from; customers can reply to a number, never to a name. Send later picks a day and time. A text is at most 918 letters, and the count shows when it runs into several texts, each one charged by ClickSend.

To text someone new, press New text, or New › Text message.

A number that replied STOP says so, and nothing more can be sent to it until they reply START.

Offers by text

In Studio › Audience, Text an offer sends one text to everybody who said yes to offers by text. How it arrives shows the words as they will leave: an offer from your shop's number ends with "Reply STOP to stop"; one from a name doesn't. It asks before sending, then says how many are on their way. An offer never goes out between 9pm and 8am: one sent then goes at 8am. Nothing automatic goes out on Shabbat or Yom Tov: it waits until after havdalah.
