Templates and placeholders in a text
In this page
When you text a customer, in Chat › Texts or on their Communication tab, you can start from a ready-made message and let Isletek fill in their details.
Templates
Press Templates under the box to search your ready-made texts (Studio › Texts). Each one shows how it will read for this customer. Pick one and its words go in the box, where you can still change them.
Placeholders
Type / for a list of placeholders. Keep typing to narrow it, then press Enter or tap one; Esc closes it.
{first_name},{last_name},{full_name}: the customer's name.{account_number}: their account number at the till.{balance}: what their account stands at, such as "£42.10", "£12.00 in credit" or "£0.00", so "Your current balance is {balance}." reads right every time.{shop}and{shop_phone}: the shop's name and phone number.{slot},{items},{total}: filled in only on a request's own texts.
How it reads
Under the box, How it reads shows the text as this customer will get it. A placeholder with nothing to fill in for them is named there: take it out or write it in yourself, because the text won't send with a gap. Curly brackets that aren't a placeholder are sent as typed. If the shop PC isn't answering, a text with the balance isn't sent, because the balance can't be trusted: try again when it's back.
The balance and account number are written in only for someone who can see Customers. Once sent, a text is kept as it left: a sent text, balance and all, can be read by everyone who reads Chat › Texts.
