Business
Profit & loss, cash flow and margins
Financials shows how the shop is doing in money: what came in, what it cost and what is left. It is the shop admin's. The figures come live from the till through the shop PC, with the expenses you add yourself.
The period
Pick a period at the top of the page. The same period stays when you move between the four views. "Last 12 months" means this month and the eleven before.
Profit & loss
Profit & loss shows revenue, the cost of the goods sold and gross profit. Revenue is the till's takings, so offers and discounts count at what the customer paid. Cost is the till's cost price on the day of each sale. A product with no cost price counts at no cost, and a note says how much of the period that is.
Cash flow
Cash flow shows cash in, cash out and the balance, all without VAT. A line under the tiles gives the VAT taken, the VAT paid and what to set aside. The dashed part ahead is a forecast: the period's average day, with your repeating costs on the days they fall due.
Margins
Margins shows margin By category or By supplier. By supplier, Spend comes from that supplier's invoices. Revenue and cost come from the till, under the supplier each product is filed under there. A supplier with spend but no till sales shows "sales filed elsewhere". A note under the switch says how much spend came from a supplier other than the one the till files it under.
Expenses
Expenses is where you add the shop's costs, such as rent. A repeating cost counts each time it falls due in the period, so the total matches the operating expenses on Profit & loss. Set the opening cash balance here too.
An older shop PC
If the shop PC needs an update to give correct figures, a note on the page says so.
