Review: duplicates and merges
In this page
Review lists the products that can't be trusted as they stand, worst first. Isletek reports and suggests; nothing is changed until you choose. Review needs a manager.
One barcode on two products
The worst kind of problem, because the till may charge the other product's price. Press Fix the barcode and answer Same product or Different products. For different products, Isletek picks the one that Keeps the barcode; the barcode comes off the others, and each keeps its code, price, stock and history. If both are one product under the same code, the window offers Merge into one.
If the Isletek catalogue knows the barcode, Isletek offers its fix in one sentence. Press Fix it to apply it, or Not now.
One code on two products
Press Resolve duplicate. Often this is a range under one code, such as several flavours, each with its own barcode. Then the till is right: press Not the same product, then It's a range, and the question stops. Sometimes it is one product entered twice. Then press Same product, merge.
The merge window
The window shows the rows side by side, what differs, and what Isletek suggests. Everything moves to the product you keep. Both barcodes stay, and the stock is added together. A merge can't be undone, and the last press says so. A switched-off product can't be the one you keep.
Several products under one code
A till product whose code names several of a supplier's products, each with its own barcode. Press Give each its own product to split them.
The review queue
Other findings: a barcode stuck on an old price, a multi-pack whose price was set once, a product with no shelf price, a till name that disagrees with the office name, two products that look alike. Dismiss a finding that is wrong. For look-alikes, Isletek learns the words that told them apart. Put back brings a dismissed finding back.
After a change
The tills ring the change after Update Till.
